It’s all about Belle and Sebastian this week on On a Good Day, as we’re going to see them live on Tuesday night. Particularly looking forward to finding out which unexpected cover they perform (the previous two times I’ve seen them they performed ‘I am the Resurrection’ and ‘The Boys are Back in Town’ respectively).
Now, this series of Monday morning recommendations is all about the upbeat and uptempto songs to start your week, and upbeat is not something that Belle and Sebastian generally do. They surprised everyone, however, with the first single from their latest album being a jaunty electro-pop number called ‘The Party Line’ The album is called ‘Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance’, and now Belle and Sebastian have written a song that does actually make you want to dance. Whatever next?
One of my friends it’s absolutely insistent that all Belle and Sebastian songs sound exactly the same (specifically they all sound like ‘The Boy With The Arab Strap’). I know he says it slightly to wind up fans like myself, but there has been an element of truth to the accusation at times. Even he liked ‘The Party Line’ however. Enjoy!
