It started, as usual, with a playlist. A friend was hosting a party for some of our old school friends, as we don’t get together as often as we ought to, and I offered to put together a playlist of the songs we used to listen back in the mid-nineties, when we were at school.
It was more fun than even I imagined, trying to remember what we were actually listening to back then, discovering which songs still sounded as great as they ever did and which didn’t, and thinking about what had happened to those bands now.
So, in an unashamed nostalgia fest, each week I’m going to write about a song from the playlist (conveniently exactly 90 songs long, alhough it may have taken some tweaking to achieve this). It seems an appropriate time, as almost every month recently one or more of my favourite albums from my teens seems to be celebrating its’ twentieth anniversary.
So, if your formative musical years were the 1990s come back to On a Good Day every Thursday, and I hope you enjoy the memories.
