My favourite music blog, and one of my key sources of new music, is the excellent For The Rabbits. They don’t overdo it, with 2 or 3 features each week and a weekly round up of the five things they’ve loved most that week, but it’s rare that a week goes by without them introducing me to something I love.
A recent favourite is Cat Meat’s Caught by the Ricochet, which they premiered a couple of weeks back. It’s a slow-burning dark country epic, reminding me of some of Jason Molina’s work, and it contains some of the finest guitar work I’ve heard in a long time, along with a gorgeous brass-backed chorus. One of those rare songs where I would be happy if it was twice as long.
Buy ‘Caught by the Ricochet’ at Bandcamp, and look out for new album ‘Trembling Tongues Make Magpie Bait’ on 3rd March
